Debian 7.0 (Wheezy) now on Blaze Cloud

Those who are committed to the Linux distribution will be happy to hear that Debian 7.0 is now available on our Blaze Cloud VPS and Blaze PAYG Cloud services. Code-named Wheezy for reasons unbeknownst to me, it includes the following key updated software packages as per their Wiki:

  • Apache 2.2.22
  • MySQL 5.5.30
  • Perl 5.14.2
  • PHP 5.4.4
  • PostgreSQL 9.1
  • Python 2.7.3 and 3.2.3
  • Tomcat 6.0.35 and 7.0.28

Debian developers are prone to erring on the side of stability rather than features, so you can rest assured the new release sticks to the party line.

Debian 7.0 is now available, and is included for free with any Blaze Cloud VPS and Blaze PAYG Cloud VM. To spin up a new Debian 7.0 Cloud VM simply submit an order via our website, or for PAYG Cloud users, deploy from your Cloud Management Panel.

    The naming scheme for Debian distributions is based on Toy Story characters. Although now they’re up to Debian 7, there aren’t many character names left that we can remember.
